I never guessed when I started this blog in 2012 that we would be back in Korea 9 years later! Only this time, with 2 less kids and a lot more restrictions due to COVID19.
Last time we lived here, I attempted to keep up my blog, but failed miserably. Looking back over the blogposts I created, I REALLY wish I had taken the time to keep posting. It has been so fun to look back at all of our adventures. I have so many memories recorded here that I had completely forgotten about. I am going to attempt to do better this time. We'll see how this goes!
We arrived in Korea a few weeks ago, but with the COVID restrictions, we had to do a 14 day quarantine on the military post. That just about KILLED me because here I was in Korea, but I couldn't really experience Korea. We were stuck on the military post. It was torture! Once we were released, the first thing we had to do was eat!!! I have missed real Korean food so much; I think this is what I was most excited about. But because Emma is not the most adventurous eater, we decided to start her off easy with some Korean BBQ.
Last time we lived here, the only thing Emma would eat at a barbecue place like this was the rice. This time she devoured the meat. It is amazing how much she has changed over the years.
Pete and I, on the other hand, devoured everything on the table -- especially the kimchi. Ahhh...it's good to be back in Korea.
Our next step was to get a car. Since we shipped our van right before leaving America, we won't see it again until October, and we desperately need transportation where we are living this time. Last time we were here, we lived in Seoul -- one of the largest cities in the world. Getting around on public transportation was a breeze.
This time, however, we are stationed about an hour south of Seoul near the city of Pyeongtaek. It is definitely country down here compared to Seoul. So if you want to get out and about, you have to have a car.
So meet the Cranberry...
It's a great little Korean made Chevy Aveo. For us, it's freedom! It's so nice to be both out of quarantine, and able to move freely around the country.
Next up...a house!
